The Menil Collection museum and a group of surrounding non-profit arts organizations come together to host a free afternoon of art and entertainment that will extend across the Menil “campus” from West Alabama to Richmond Avenue.  Highlighting the diversity of the Menil neighborhood arts community the festival will include films and performances, from chamber music to literary readings, performances and workshops.

All day events, include:
Aurora Picture Show Open House and Short Film Screening, Houston Center for Photography Nowhere Near Here: New Photographic Work by Texas Artists Exhibition, Houston Indie Book Festival, Watercolor Artist Society – Clothesline Art Sale, in addition to the regular exhibits from the Dan Flavin Installation, The Menil Collection, Rothko Chapel, and Byzantine Fresco Chapel

Several performances will take place throughout the day, including:
11AM – Music from TALA – Erin Rodgers
1PM – Riyaaz Qawwali Concert presented by the Rothko Chapel
2PM- “The Territory” screening by SWAMP
3PM – Family Drum Circle with Sam Dinkins III presented by Da Camera of Houston
4PM- Jazz Performance with Sam Dinkins III presented by Da Camera of Houston

Houston Indie Book Festival and Inprint join forces to present readings, including:
11:15 AM – Gwendolyn Zepeda
12:15 PM – Sophie Rosenblum
1:15 PM – Amelia Gray
2:15 PM – Ann Weisgarber
3:15 PM – Hayan Charara
4:15 PM- Ryan Call

The day will also feature several educational opportunities, including:
Aurora Picture Show Stop Motion Animation Workshop, Garden Tiles and Grilled Cheese: Ceramics Workshop, SWAMP “Scratchatopia” Workshop, WAS-H Watermedia Demonstrations, and WITS Creative Writing Tours Through The MenilCollection
